Manhunt for Larnaca Murder Suspect Ends in Arrest in Kato Pyrgos

Police have launched a manhunt which ended in the arrest of 45-year-old George Xiouroupas, who is suspected of gunning down 40-year-old Panayiotis Christodoulou at around 05:30 am on April 25th.

The murder is believed to be an underworld crime, as both men are known to the authorities for drug dealing.

They had a fight outside a bar on Makarios Avenue in Larnaca, after which Christodoulou, aka ‘Karmakotis’, was shot to death by Aradippou resident Xiouroupas. The father-of-four was shot in the head, chest, stomach, arm and leg, said state pathologist Sophocles Sophocleous.

An off-duty police officer caught Xiouroupas in Kato Pyrgos in Morpou. The suspect was armed and trying to escape the authorities by crossing the Green Line, but was stopped before reaching the checkpoint.
