The Sovereign Base Area (SBA) police said it will publicly destroy roulette tables, blackjack tables, and other gambling tables confiscated in raids on illegal gambling joints within the SBA jurisdiction.

The items were used in successful court cases against criminals running gambling operations, exploiting vulnerable community members, said a spokeswoman.

The Chief Constable of the SBA Police Mr Mick Matthews said “The SBA Police are sending a clear message to these criminals, we will continue to target your illegal activities, we will successfully prosecute you and we will seek destruction orders for seized property and closure orders for premises used, to protect our communities ensure the laws of the SBA’s are enforced”.

The gambling evidence will be destroyed on February 22nd at Episkopi Base, said the spokeswoman.
